What is L2TP handoff?
L2TP handoff is a wholesale broadband model where customer broadband sessions are delivered from access networks into a partner-controlled environment. This is valuable when the partner wants to manage authentication, IP ranges, routing policies, logging, monitoring or customer-specific network services.
It is commonly used by ISPs and technically mature MSPs that want more control than a fully managed broadband product provides.
Why partners use L2TP
L2TP lets you build broadband into your own operational platform. You can integrate RADIUS, IP allocation, monitoring, usage analysis and downstream customer services while still using a wholesale provider for access network reach and provisioning support.
This helps partners standardise service delivery even when the underlying last-mile carrier varies by location.
Managed or technical models
Not every partner needs L2TP. Some prefer a fully managed wholesale service where the supplier handles more of the technical layer. Others need a handoff model because they already operate their own network and support systems.
Wholesale Broadband UK can help align the right model with your technical maturity, support capability and commercial goals.
